Started the day with selfies at our balcony!
Started the day with selfies at our balcony!
Today
is the day we arrived at Thailand. We were supposed to adjust our clocks
to 1 hour earlier according to Thailand’s time but we did not. We wanted to
wake up at 8am but accidentally overslept till 9am, and then realised that it
was supposed to be 8am anyway due to the time difference LOL. We had an extra
hour of sleep in this case! No wonder the quality of sleep that day was so
good. Initially, we have planned to eat breakfast at the main dining room but
we thought they were closed because we woke up late, so it is Windjammer
again :D. Craving for some Chinese food so I had the chicken bao. The ham and
cheese omelete is really tasty. The toast you see below is actually a fish toast,
which I guess is fish flavoured bread toast? While my bf did not like it, I found
it quite unique despite it being a little on the oily side. It is crispy crispy
yum yum.
We walked around
the ship after breakfast and came to the back of the bridge. We can see
the crew and navigations through the glass panel. I had no idea what the bridge
was until I heard it during the emergency drill on the first day and enquired
my bf about it haha.
At
10am plus, they had a “Land Parade” at deck 5 to celebrate that we have reached
our very first port. We stopped at Laemchabang, Thailand, which is
actually an industrial port. Since we did not book any shore excursion,
we decided to just stay on the ship as there were nothing nearby to shop around
anyway. We could take a public transport to Bangkok or Pattaya but that would
be a 2 and 1 hour journey respectively. As we did not exchange any Thai baht
either, we should just be smart and stay on board.
Taking
advantage of the fact that the ship would be less crowded, we went to
chill by the pool and had some sun tanning session though it was really quite
scorching hot. There are pool towels provided at the pool so you do not have to
bring along the room's. In fact, you can wrap yourself with the towel back up
to the room instead of changing back to your clothes with the wet swimsuit on. We
placed our blue pool towels outside our room door like the other cruisers. Back
to our room for a quick shower before lunch at Windjammer. So much convenience
being on a ship for a vacation! The view at Windjammer restaurant was not
so scenic anymore since we were by the shore.
At 3.30pm,
we went to Star Lounge for a line dancing class. However, as we
were too full from lunch, we just sat there to watch and relax. It gets really
comfortable on the ship that you just feel like sleeping. We went back to nap
until dinner time ;x.
Generally, we dress
appropriately for dinner at the main dining room, so I just changed into a
long pants with the same top. I had some time in the room so it was bed selfie
time. By the way, I have not mentioned. There is only 15 minutes allowance
to enter the main dining room for dinner. Our dinner time is 6pm and we have to
reach the dining room before 6.15pm. I guess this is to facilitate for the next
batch of diners at 8.30pm. I forgot to include a photo of the seapass card in
my previous posts, so here it is. The timing of the dinner is stated on it. The
main dining room also has a specific name - Sapphire Dining Room. The
last time on the Legend of the Seas, it is called Romeo and Juliet. Funny name.
Today, our table is
full, for the one and only time ;p. A family of 4, inclusive of a pair of twin
girls, joined us tonight. The mother looks like the interviewer of the job I
went last year o.o.
For appetizer, I chose a
classic shrimp salad that has been on the menu the whole trip. It's quite
appetizing to eat this if you are not so hungry. Can't remember what is the
other appetizer because somehow I did not capture the picture. It is most
likely the escargot after I look through the menu, which looks like the picture
of scallops on the first day. I ordered salmon fillet which comes with red
capsicum and zucchini. The fillet is tender yet a little on the dry side on the
surface. Grilled zucchini taste quite good. Did not touch the red pepper since
I don't eat that, totally hate them. The steak should have more sauce/ butter
or else it is also on the dry side. The baked potato is love, with the hardness
just right for me <3. As for the desserts, I don't even remember eating
those hahaha. But they just look so appealing!
It is time for the
activities after dinner. Today, we went up to High Notes at deck 14 for
a karoke guessing game in Mandarin. I was thinking there must be very
few people attending only because the majority of passengers probably do not
speak mandarin. Hence, there is a higher probability I would win right? LOL.
When the event was starting, the Chinese host urged all of us to move in front
so we can snatch the microphone to answer her questions. She would sing a part
of the song, and we would have to run to the microphone and shout out the song
title.
The first song is
actually a song I used to always sing in KTV! Omg but I did not actually
remember the title. You know how sometimes you have to continue to sing the
song until you reach certain lyrics to be enlightened of which song it is. The
first song is Sandy Lam 林憶蓮 's 至少還有你 [At least I still have you] and eventually the
host gave up and told us the answer because no one could get it! I could
literally sing the song out but just cannot figure out the song title. For the
next few songs, other people keep getting it and I don't really want to run to
the microphone to shout out an answer that was already shouted out. Eventually
I managed to get Beyond's 喜欢你 and Ah Mei's 记得 correctly. Beyond's song is a cantonese song
and when I reached the microphone, the host suddenly asked me to sing it out.
So the “喜欢你” came out from my mouth
sounding so out of tune due to the surprise. We got 2 of the same souvenirs
below which we can tie onto our jacket's or bag's zipper as a decoration.
The night view in Thailand - all the lights from the port.
Although I probably was
not hungry, I still had a few snacks that night at Cafe Promenade
because I saw the pink lemonade tart. Before my trip, I have read reviews and
they mentioned about this particular tart. The tart is crispy and the filling,
sour and sweet. Not the best tart I have eaten.
There is a library
on board and it consist of two levels. One level has the books and the
computers for internet access. The bottom level has tables and boardgames for
cruiser who are looking for some classic entertainment. There were scrabble, chess,
checkers, and some kids games. Mahjong is also available but I think you have
to rent the decks from the guest service counter. We chose to play the game
of Sorry as it is one of the more interesting and unique games. It works like
the concept of snakes and ladders where you move multiple steps if you land on
the right square, and eventually reaches home. It looks like monopoly also,
moving in a square, but with no involvement of money. You pick the card from
the deck and follow the instructions for the movement, to move how many steps
forward or backwards, or choosing to send the opponent's cone back to starting
point. The new version includes the Ice and Fire power whereby Ice freezes your
opponent's cone, preventing them from advancing in the game. Fire power allows
you to jump from corner to corner, helping you reach the destination easier. It
can even bring another cone back to home if the powered cone reaches home base.
This was our regular game on board and bf won in the number of wins overall ;<.
Happy happy woman I am.
