Bf and I visited Korea recently since I wanted to fulfill my wish to see the running man casts in real life. Unfortunately, we did'nt see any of them. Well, the desire to visit Korea was also because I wanted to visit the places that running man went, hehe. I have decided to blog again to ensure our travel memories are jotted down. Also, the trip is successfully planned with the help from information on online blogs and forums. So maybe, my blog posts can help anyone who need some opinion and information on Korea too :).
19/20 May 2014-
Our flight was in the night at 10.40pm so bf came to fetch me to his place first before his dad sent us to the airport. The feeling of excitement started to build up once we reached Changi airport. Super love the idea of freedom and 二人世界. We flew with Asiana, a Korean airline, so they mainly speak the Korean language. As expected, one of the lady staff spoke to us in Korean when she guided us to the check-in counter. Another staff beside noticed our confused look and spoke in English to us, leaving the lady laughing out loud and telling us that we looked like Koreans.
"Dear, you got a Korean gf and I got a Korean bf sia!"
I was super tired during the 6 hours flight and wasted "potential usage" of their entertainment system. lol. We had bibimbap and fish with rice as our meals on air. Honestly, it was just so so. Very disappointed you know. Plus, since their main language was Korean, the service provided to us does'nt feel as great as SIA.
After all the procedures to check out and collect our baggages, we had our first meal there at Macdonalds. Mac breakkie taste much better at home haha. Took the Airport Railway Express (Arex) towards Gimpo Airport for our flight to Jeju. Check in can be done about 40 minutes before flight I think. The domestic flight journey took about 1 hour and we slept through it. At Jeju Airport, we took airport bus limousine (600) to December Hotel and arrived after two stops. Oh, T money card can be bought at Gimpo Airport to be used to pay for the bus fare. So anyway, we were at lost when we reached the busstop because our hotel is nowhere in sight T.T. Luckily, thanks to my smarty brains, we walked in the right direction and there it was! (Standing at bus stop while facing Grace Hotel, walk towards the left ok) Check in was easy and the staff was great. He is equipped with relatively good English skills so no worries for tourists like us. Was told that their majority of customers are Singaporeans and Malaysians.
Here's how the room looks like. I was super pleased. There's so much customization and design stickers that made the room more cozy-feeling.
I think the special thing about hotels in Korea is that they have a small area for shoes and then another door for you to enter into the real room. Maybe you would think I'm quite suaku but it's the first time I actually see this kind of rooms haha. The experience in December Hotel was pretty awesome. The amenities there were very clean and the room was bug free! This is in contrast to the hotel I stayed in Seoul o.o. After the praising session on the hotel room, we slept to regain the lost energy from the double flight. The blanket....so comfortable!
For our first authentic Korean meal, we picked a small restaurant at the streets near our hotel. The auntie does'nt speak English and her menu is like on her phone! So we had to scroll through the pictures and figure out what they were. We ordered mandu, bibimbap (again, because somebody loves that) and pork noodles. And that was the start of the Kimchi-everyday trend :).
Strolled the cooling streets after dinner before sleeping for the night. I was in shorts and my legs felt cold (but of course not the very cold wintery type). An experience you will not get in Singapore, even if it rains.
Feeling excited for the rest of the trip! :)
